Day 75 : How to make the Indian Immunity Drink – Kaada

Although I am not a fan of tea, as I am more of a coffee lover, every once in a while it feels nice to devour a cup of warm and soothing tea. Green teas are my favorite. Dark with no sugar. No, I am not on a diet but I still love the taste without the sweetness added. Anyways, teas can also help with our immunity. Did you know that?!

This specially brewed tea is an excellent remedy for colds, coughs, sore throat and fever. It helps fight infections and viruses. In the popular Hindi tv Serials, it is generally referred to as Kaada – where the grannies of the house jump in to prepare it whenever someone in the house has had a rough health. This particular drink tastes just like a herbal tea with all the goodness of improving the immunity levels.

You will need :

3tbsp fresh ginger
2 bay leaves
4 whole cardamom
2 cloves
1 stick cinnamon
5-6 whole black pepper
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp fennel seeds ( saunf)
1/2 tsp caraway seeds ( ajwain )
3 glasses water
Sugar / honey as sweetener to taste

Method

Take 3 glasses of water in a pot. Add all the above ingredients except the sweetener. Bring to a boil. Let it boil for 5-7 minutes.

Switch off the flame. Leave the ingredients in the water for 5 minutes.

Strain and add sweetener (optional)
Drink warm.

Having this immunity drink 2-3 times in a day is highly beneficial when your health is down with the flu or colds.
